REASONS FOR IN VITRO FERTILIZATION (IVF), PROCESS & RISKS - OVERVIEW

IVF CYCLE
IVF CYCLE
IVF is a complex process of conception of a baby in which eggs are collected from woman ovaries and fertilized by a sperm in a laboratory. The embryo is then implanted in the woman's uterus-gestation carrier. IVF takes about fourteen days to complete a cycle.

IVF is more effective artificial reproduction. This is done by stimulating the woman ovulation, and collecting the ovum and combine it with that of the man sperm to fertilize. Eggs or sperm can be collected from an anonymous donor.

IVF can result in multiple births when more than one embryo is implanted in the uterus.
Certain factors like age and the cause of infertility can determine the success of IVF.

         REASONS FOR IN VITRO FERTILIZATION

 IVF  is a treatment for infertility
It is proffered when one  of the partners has any of the following health challenges;

 1. Dysfunctional sperm production: This includes abnormalities in sperm, low sperm count, weak movement of the sperm.

2.  Woman with Ovulation disorders, premature ovarian failure.

3. Fallopian tube blockage or damage: it makes egg difficult to fertilize or embryo to move to a woman uterus.

4. Woman with fibroids. fibroids affect the implantation of the fertilized eggs or embryo.

5. Fallopian tube removal or sterilization. The permanent cut of or blockage of fallopian tubes to prevent pregnancy.

6.  Partners with a genetic disorder.

7. unexplained infertility. no infertility cause is identified.

8. fertility preservation for cancer. cancer treatment like chemotherapy can affect fertility.
