A pregnant corps member is required to apply and obtain NYSC maternity leave, failure to do so may be treated as abscondment and consequently extension of the service year.
How Do I Apply For NYSC Maternity Leave |
Therefore, a married or an unmarried pregnant corps member shall be entitled to twelve - weeks maternity leave; that is, 3 months leave. During this period of leave, she will be paid full monthly allowance.
She will not, however, be entitled to the annual 21days terminal leave.
The pregnant corps member is advised to get close to her CDS Ma or Sir to be properly guided with respect to CDS clearance before applying for maternity leave.
Secondly, inform your General CLO and Primary Place of Assignment CLO of your maternity leave in order for them to help during clearance. However, although unusual, some states do want the corps member to come back and complete the three months of the maternity leave after the service year before getting the NYSC certificate.
